Smiling and Encouraging Progress

Today I am so grateful that my Father in Heaven loves me. He allows me the opportunity to learn by making my own choices, positive or negative. He is not thinking less of me or loving me any less. He is NOT thinking I'm dumb or "How many times does she have to make that same dumb mistake?" He is watching over me like a kind parent, advising me and trying to steer me away from trouble. Ultimately He lets me choose, the action and the consequence.
I was noticing myself in Zumba class today. I did much better following along when I watched the teacher the whole time but often I would notice myself looking away and trying to do it myself. When I would look back, I was sometimes off. I was trying to go from what I thought I remembered. Since I know that I often don't remember the moves very well, I am so thankful I have someone there to guide me and be my example. My teacher is constantly there, smiling and encouraging me smile emoticonMy Savior Jesus Christ is constantly there, smiling and encouraging me. He is the ultimate example to me in my life. He has been here and experienced the hardships of life. He was treated so badly when he had done nothing wrong or to maybe "deserve" it somehow, yet He still loves and keeps trying to help those that are willing. His arms are outstretched to lift you up, help you along, walk side by side with you, and even carry you if need be. Knowing He is there to help me carry my burdens, but ultimately beckoning me to allow Him to take them from me all together, comforts me. He Rejoices in my partaking of the Gift of the Atonement that only He could offer me. All He leads me to do is repent and try again. We were Never sent here to be perfect, simply to progress.

Miss Takes

I am grateful to know that the ONLY source to look to for reinforcement of my Value is my Father in Heaven. I have been searching for value: to be liked, praised, and thought well of by other people. If I wasn't valued, or in actuality did not THINK I was, then I would feel sad, inadequate, or not enough. I realized that, looking from a Parent's point of view, my children have value simply because they exist. It is not because they won an award or got the best grades or matched their clothes or even because they obeyed exactly what I asked them to do. While those things are nice, are those things essential for me to love and value them as my child? We always enjoy seeing them succeed and that is how I imagine Heavenly Father is with us. He delights in seeing us progress!!!
Have we ever hit some bumps when trying to accomplish something? When we are trying to learn something new, there is inevitably going to be mistakes! What if we chose to look at it instead like a "miss take" like in acting, Take one, Take two, Take three, and how many ever times it takes to get the finished product that looks "perfect." Was every mis-take we made along the way to perfecting that skill evidence of no longer being worthwhile or valuable? How about learning to walk, ride a bike, roller skate, learn an instrument, or a new language? Are not the mis-takes part of the journey to success?? I was hiding and being afraid of not being perfect the first time, to avoid ridicule or embarrassment. Were those thoughts coming from my LOVING Father??? If I would not devalue my child, why should I devalue myself? His view of me is what I can look to for support in esteeming myself. He wants me to become my very best self and rejoices in my progression! Embrace the very things that help you flourish. Love your journey and Yourself...

Thou shalt not...

I just had an experience of teaching my sons something that helped me to understand God's love for us even more....
I walked into my boy's bedroom and quickly they paused the video they were watching. I figured that the pause was to see what I wanted, but I picked up the tablet and unpaused the video. I was going to say "to my surprise," but I am not sure that I really was. When I proceeded to watch it, the boy on the video took the Lord's name in vain. My older son got immediately quiet and upset and kinda shrunk back from me. I asked him why he seemed bothered and he did not respond. I am sure that he was trying to process his feelings about it... (Do I agree with Mom? Why can't I watch it? He only says it once in a while or hardly ever?)
I proceeded to ask him questions, assisting him in coming up with why HE might choose not to want to partake of the show. I asked if he probably heard those things at school and other places and he confirmed that it was so. I mentioned to him that there is a distinct difference in Choosing to listen to those words and being Subject to other people's choices to use those words when you cannot escape it or get away from it.
In our home, we are practicing creating a SAFE HAVEN for our family from the world outside. Out there we can be subject to lots of things we may not enjoy or like or could even harm us, but at Home we can thankfully make a conscious choice.
How blessed we are to have the Gift of Agency. Do we have the right to take it away from other people? No. Is there still a consequence to rules or laws being broken? Yes. In other words, if someone chooses with their agency to speed, are they subject to the consequences of those actions? Are the laws there to just annoy people Or to attempt to keep them safe, freer from harm, and ultimately happier?
I gently reminded my sons of the Ten Commandments, general and basic guidelines for our Happiness. Can we trust the source of these guidelines? What would be the reason that they would be given? I Know that the Source, God, desires MY Ultimate and True Happiness MORE than I could ever imagine. Does He know about things that maybe I don't? So if I choose to follow His suggestions, could I be avoiding consequences that I may not even understand?
Parents also have guidelines for their children because they too want their kids' ultimate happiness and safety. Do parents know things their children don't? Yes, and by their counsel they often wish to help their children avoid unnecessary struggle, pain, and hardships.
We have so much to learn in living as a child AND being a parent. We learn deeper concepts about life and how perfectly our Heavenly Parents love us.

My Perspective...

I am a soul that wishes so much to do right by my Father in Heaven. When I had a miscarriage, I learned a very Spiritual and Valuable lesson. These children that I have been blessed to raise are simply on loan to me. They help me to learn how to become a better person and see a little clearer how my Parents in Heaven love me. Yes, I did say Parents because I feel that what we SEE here in life is really teaching us greater concepts about the Eternities and Heaven. If I have parents here on earth who created me together and I too become a parent with my husband, having a Father in Heaven without a Mother makes no sense.
Now if that is not too deep, another question is: Do mortal parents want their children to have as much if not more than what they have? Generally, Yes. So then, why would Heavenly Perfect Supreme Parents want anything less for their own children? (This concept is referenced in Matthew 7:7-11 and Luke 11:9-13) Because of this, I also feel that I am actually in training to become a Parent in Heaven like my Heavenly Parents. Subsequently, I often find myself weighing how I parent to the way that my Parents in Heaven see me and my life. This helps me examine if I may be on track. Lots of times I am not, but it sure helps me to make course corrections along the way.
NOTE: Nothing I say is ever meant to offend and please know that this is all through My Eyes to help me become better at doing what I feel I was sent here to do, Learn. If any of these posts help you, someone you know, or simply spurs thought, I am truly grateful...
